The Anticrat

Her only talent seems to be her ability to attack her own party. Yes it gets her attention, something every child seems to be starved for these days, but it doesn’t help the Republican Party. If MegMac had her way the Republican Party would be left fractured and impotent for decades(It’s little wonder why the left loves her). Attacking members of our party does nothing to add to constructive dialogue or debate concerning issues. It’s just a way for MegMac to raise her own profile and get invited to Hollywood parties(which I suspect is her underlying motivation). She’s shown no understanding of who actually makes up the Republican Party. Her desire to gain praise, by attacking conservatives, is appalling. She criticizes Karl Rove’s Twitter activity and claims they lack substance. Here are two Tweets. Guess which one is from MegMac and which one is from Karl Rove. Both Tweets represent the most non trivial Tweets on each individuals respective page. You be the judge.

“Tea parties show how hard it will be 4 BHO 2 hide Dem tax & spend tendencies from voters. http://twurl.nl/jfj50r #TCOT #SGP #HHRS #TEAPARTY”

“off to a meeting”

I could have posted “I am so obsessed with this song “Don’t Trust Me” by 3OH!3, the guys are cute and the song is catchy - if a little un-pc… I keep singing it” but I’m a nice guy.

Her petty and childish behavior is reprehensible and only hampers attempts by the Republican Party to find our footing. Why would she do such a thing? Perhaps it’s because she has an axe to grind.

Could all this pseudo political posturing just be her way of lashing out at those who have been critical of her father’s love of attacking his own party, while excusing the opposition? MegMac and her father share a willingness to harm the Republican Party if it gets them coverage in the press. Perhaps the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Neo-Valley girls, whose depth can be measured in millimeters, should not be encouraged. The people who continue to feed the attention seeking urchin are, for the most part, those on the left and gay marriage zealots. Her father’s fame has resulted in her gaining attention, but she has done nothing of significance in her life and she is far from an expert on public policy. She’s the Paris Hilton of politics(Sorry AllahPundit). A spoiled attention loving child that is famous in spite of herself. Yes MegMac you’re a child. It’s not about your age, it’s about your attitude. I’m 27 years old, I’ve been a member of the Republican Party for nine years, and Meghan McCain does not speak for me.

Thank you for your comment, Steve Lee. I think Smart Girl Politics is a great site and I'm proud to call some members friends.

Allah Pundit, on Hot Air said the following, "Free advice to Meggie Mac: Talking about the things you have in common with most Republicans rather than dwelling on the differences would go a long way towards earning you their respect, albeit at the price of losing you some media appearances."

In my opinion, that’s good advice and she should take it gratefully. The same can be said for increasing the Republican base. We can do this by focusing on the issues we share with Independents and Libertarians(smaller gov, fiscal discipline, pro second amendment, etc).

We won’t expand our base by making the issues on which we disagree the focus. This only leads to fighting and fracture. The Dem's didn’t reach out to Blue Dogs and compromise their platform. They just highlighted the issues where they overlapped in agreement and downplayed the issues that fracture them.

We win by making the elections about issues that lead to support from Independents and Libertarians. We couldn’t do that in 08, because we had a media firmly against us and an unpopular war/president(McCain was a horrible campaigner as well). We have to actually fight the media and offer a competing narrative to the one they craft. They are solid blue and they cannot be counted on for fair treatment. Treating a political party like it’s a pop culture trend isn't a good idea.

Young people change as they get older and experience more of life. If MegMac actually studied voter behavior she could offer more substantive and constructive observations. I don’t dislike her for voicing her opinions and ideas. I dislike her for the naivety and ignorance of those opinions and ideas.

Off on a bit of a tangent there, but I think it's important that ideas be constructive. Especially given the current state of the Republican Party.

Politco Pundito- You are the only political networker that has brought up Meghan McCain. She said what she felt needed to be said, it's not surprising that Republicans are upset with her.

The Democrats have several women politicians in high government offices that speak to their issues. The conservative women have a site online where they gather to share ideas, Click Underlined Link:

Thanks for the kind words Harold but actually I am kind of a nutjob but I have moments of cognisant thought...more often than not inspired by one of you Cavers'.

I don't like or dislike Meg, you just inspired me to write a blog-in-a-blog on something I had wanted to blog but am lazy and prefer hijacking other peoples (good) blogs. ;>)

Mr. Crat...you and I are definately on the same page, just a few paragraphs apart. ;>)

"Republicans like Meg & me are often ostracized by our own party, ridiculed for some of our beliefs and pretty much blamed for the troubles in the GOP.

Why are we treated this way? SImply because we do not tow the party line on Social Issues. There are many (millions) of Fiscal Conservative/ Social Liberals in the GOP who are often labled as Moderates, Psuedo-Conservatives and/or Heretics. Meg's father, John is a slightly more social conservative but he did represent a large portion of the GOP and is why he won the nomination, but even he was subjected to curses and mumblings over not being a "true conservative" and many in the GOP refused to vote for him."

Honestly Steven, we are on the same page here I think...

The next jackass who uses this daughter as an excuse to say how Romney would have been a better choice, will be the last Republican I bother to listen to...

This issue is a great one because it illustrates:

1.) Just how dumb you have to act to be equatable with democrats

2.) How dumb the republican line towing bullshit is... Republican's are killing themselves off by enforcing illusions on their own party, invoking Reagen in ways that simply aren't true, insisting that there is no compromise by virtue of their actions...

This issue has seriously helped me in my decision to leave the republican party... They are trying to fight snakes with cotton candy... They are trying to have it all and don't seem to realize that they have really already lost, and even a good election will change nothing...

Even if Republicans get controlling majority again, then what? are they going to pull back all that has happened? are they going to eliminate the taxes? Are they going to get rid of the IRS? are they going to do *anything* significant? ...No... they couldn't even get welfare reform and vouchers for decent schools to stick... Many times because staunch conservatives wouldn't compromise and were too busy bushing 'neocons'...

The idea that getting republicans back in any way will help anything is to be in denial of the last half century of politics...

That they *still* refuse to accept a dumb little girl into their party in such strong number tells me that I don't belong in their tent either...

Republicans don't seem to realize just how far off it has all gone... and AM Radio isn't going to do anything but make them feel better while they go down...

I want to fight for my country to come back...And I want a party that isn't going to be pussies about it... Or a party that fears the words of one 23 year old girl among their own ranks so much...

I say unpopular things...If republicans cant handle that, then they can fuck-right-off along with democrats...

My message to Republicans...: You are great listeners, the better of the parties, the more tolerant, the more reasonable... but now you have to GROW YOUR TENT or chisel your tombstone...

Thanks for all the comments. Steven, I would respect her more if she was a well reasoned individual such as yourself, who expressed a desire to see change within the party, without attacking those who have been some of its most ardent defenders. I'm a Libertarian, but I'm part of the Republican Party, because I feel it most closely reflects my values. However I sometimes find myself in strange company, but I do not attack those who I agree with on 85% of the issues. That's why I am not a fan of MegMac.

She goes out of her way to attack those on the right, while bending over backwards to appease those on the left. Compromise can be a good thing, but not if it's all on one side. John McCain often crossed the aisle to aid the Democrats, but his actions never resulted in reciprocation on the part of Democrats. This didn't seem to trouble John McCain and that troubles me.

MegMac is much like her father in that she has raised her profile by attacking conservatives, but she says nothing critical of the left. I don't believe she's like you, Steven. You're a fair minded individual, while MegMac is somebody with an ax to grind who is willing to harm the Republican Party if it allows her to take cheap shots and those she doesn't like.

I know I won't be popular for this, but I think I kinda understand Meg. I'm not saying I agree with her but that I am kinda like her (but hopefully more articulate). Republicans like Meg & me are often ostracized by our own party, ridiculed for some of our beliefs and pretty much blamed for the troubles in the GOP.

Why are we treated this way? SImply because we do not tow the party line on Social Issues. There are many (millions) of Fiscal Conservative/ Social Liberals in the GOP who are often labled as Moderates, Psuedo-Conservatives and/or Heretics. Meg's father, John is a slightly more social conservative but he did represent a large portion of the GOP and is why he won the nomination, but even he was subjected to curses and mumblings over not being a "true conservative" and many in the GOP refused to vote for him.

I often feel like an outcast from my own party and it bothers me because I always saw the Left as the ones who insist on absoutes with no room for discussion. I believe in the "Big Tent" of the Republican Party and feel that is it's strength, not a weakness. The argument can be truthfully made that the Big Tent makes it harder to come to a consensus but for me, a consensus out of long debate is always preferable to a consensus out of dogma.

Great post tho Harold...I think Meg's problem isn't that her views are stupid but rather her persona is.. ;>)

Also, you are correct that the Left tries to use Moderate Republicans to portray the GOP as fractured and impotent, but that is only true if we play into it.

Meg is a glowing example that she may have her mama's looks, but she doesn't have her class.......her mom has that, by her past actions via charity work, etc.

Meg's kissing up to both sides.......yet, her dad's not a true conservative methinks.

I believe there is more to it than appears... I think there is maybe a *misguided* attempt at a strategy here, and I think it will backfire personally... She is being artificial

I have nothing against the girl, but in the end her father earned the right to ride the line, she has not, nor has she got anything that makes her anything special... If she tries to embrace the left as an attempt to build bridges, what she is going to find is that it was never the conservatives that were burning them...

I think she is naively thinking that the left are fair minded people once you get passed the surface... She also sees the writing on the wall...if you want a job in film, entertainment, publishing, advertising...anything 'cool' you will have to pass the progressive test... This is how they got Ron Reagan et al as propaganda tools ...

She is trying to make society status... She is selling her soul to do so... It will backfire and she will be used... She cannot be a Paris Hilton type, because agendas will always stop her...

I wish she'd go away to be honest... Let her family keep the respect that her father rightly earned...

She's trying to have it both ways. Maybe she could work on the Governator's next campaign because that's the only place she'll find likeminded people claiming to be Republican/Conservative. She's a bimbo and a distraction. She's a Columbia graduate... in art history or something. Apparently her birthright has granted her some platform she's completely unqualified for. Anyone who's filled out their own 1040 EZ form is more qualified than her.

The left is using her just like they used Scott McClellan. She should be designing t-shirts, not concocting controversies to advance herself.
